Since my bladder cancer diagnosis, I often get asked about the products I use and how that change has impacted my life since my diagnosis. Since the number two cause of bladder cancer is exposure to chemicals, I decided to make drastic changes in my everyday hygiene products.
The first thing I did is any product I used in the past during chemotherapy I threw out. There was nothing wrong with the products or the content. It's just certain scents, and products I use during chemotherapy just brought back to many memories. So out the products went and I selected all new ones. Here are a few of my favorites.
Let's start with Shampoo I like the Suave Avocado + Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner. Suave advertises the shampoo and conditioner have 0% dyes. I also like the fact the shampoo and conditioner are made with 100% natural avocado and olive oil. This product is also easy to find in any retail store.
When it comes to hand and body lotion, I like Alaffia Ultra Hydrating Body Lotion-Coconut Lime. This product has no synthetic fragrance, is paraben free and also vegan. The product is also certified fair trade by IMO. Alaffia also makes additional body care, hair care, face care products as well. Alaffia products can be found online at www.alaffia.com I have also found Alaffia products in Whole Foods.
I like Burt's Bees products when it comes to cleansing my face and exfoliating. I like the Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream to clean my face. I like the smell and that my face feels and looks naturally healthy and fresh. Another reason I like the product is it's 99.9% natural. You can purchase this product online at BurtsBees.com for $8. This product can also be found in just about any pharmacy or big box retailer.
When I exfoliate my face, I use the Peach & Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub.
This product is also 99.9% natural. The product smells great, and also is gentle on the skin. You can purchase this product online at BurtsBees.com for $8. This product can also be found in just about any pharmacy or big box retailer.
When my lips get chapped, I like to use the Burts's Bees Pomegranate or the pink grapefruit lip balm. Both products smell great and do a great job protecting and nourishing the lips. You can purchase this product online at BurtsBees.com for $3.30. This product can also be found in just about any pharmacy or big box retailer.
I would recommend any of the Burt's Bees products the ones above are just a few of the ones I use regularly. Burt's Bees has a wide variety of natural products, and the excellent thing about Burt's Bees is you can find their products in just about any retail store.
These are just a few of the products that make my life a little easier. I have also changed all the household products I use. That's a whole different blog that I will write about in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, or have great products you use and recommend, please email me at email@example.com
